ASSOCIATION OF RISK FACTORS WITH HYPERURICEMIA - A CROSS- SECTIONAL STUDY

ABSTRACT
Background: Hyperuricemia is most common risk factor for the development of gout and other metabolic disorders. The prevalence of hyperuricemia has been increased in both rural and urban area due to sedentary life style. Due to poor food habits its prevalence has been increased in hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh. This study was carried out with an aim to know the associated risk factors for the development of hyperuricemia in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Method: A cross-sectional study was carried out at OPD of Solan Homoeopathic Medical college and Hospital, Kumarhatti, Solan, Himachal Pradesh. Objective of this study was to calculate serum uric acid and to know its
associated risk factors. Results: The prevalence of hyperuricemia was found to be significantly associated with increasing age, dietary habits, gender and occupation. Conclusion: In this study it was observed that hyperuricemia is associated with multiple risk factors.
