EXPERIMENTAL EVALUATION OF ANTIPSYCHOTIC ACTIVITY OF BRAHMYADI GHRITA

ABSTRACT
Brahmyadi Ghrita (BG) is a polyherbal formulation; explain in ayurvedic classics to treat various CNS conditions. This study is carried out to assess antipsychotic activity of BG, Lipid soluble drugs of this formulation was extracted in Cow ghee. To assess of antipsychotic activity “5-HTP induced head twitches in mice model” and to assess extra pyramidal adverse effect “catalepsy in mice model” was used. Test drug BG was given in three dose levels X/2, X and 2X and compared with standard drug Olanzapine and Haloperidol.
