ROLE OF AGNIKARMA IN EYE DISEASES- A REVIEW ARTICLE

ABSTRACT
The human body is divided into six major parts called Angas and further divided into Pratyanga. Netra is one among the Pratyanga of head. The evolution and development of eye is dependent upon the action of five cosmic elements, called as Panch mahabhutas. They are Pruthvi, Aap, Tej, Vayu and Aakash. Their contribution to eye is called as Panch bhautikatva. The Agnis of the respective Mahabhutas will digest the channels of Kapha and Ratka to develop sense organs. The essence of Kapha vaha Strotas forms the Shukla mandala, and the essence of Raktavaha Strotas is developed as Krushna mandal. Agnikarma is one of the important parasurgical procedures in eye disorders. The disorders treated by Agnikarma will not recur. In
Agnikarma heat is transformed to the body by various Dravyas, now this Agnikarma procedure is modified scientifically in the branch of ophthalmology as cauterisation, laser and radiation. The concept of Agnikarma will discuss further.
