COFFEE SILVERSKIN A VALUABLE INGREDIENT IN COSMETICS: A REVIEW

ABSTRACT
Coffee Silverskin is a solid by-product generated during roasting of coffee beans which constitutes about 42% w/w of coffee beans. The silverskin is good source of bioactive compounds which are rich in cellulosic and hemicellulosic fibres as well as interesting molecules such as polyphenolic compounds, melanoidins and caffeine helpful in improving skin health and appearance. As the production of coffee is throughout the year, hence Coffee Silverskin is a valuable ingredient obtained in roasting industries which could be an alternative to synthetic chemicals used in cosmetic formulations. This review focuses on various activities of Coffee Silverskin such as an anticellulite, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and anti-hairloss
properties.
