THE PSYCHIC REPERCUSSIONS OF INFERTILITY ON COUPLES

ABSTRACT
Infertility can be characterized as a disease of the reproductive system defined by the inability to carry out a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more of unprotected regular sex. The inability to conceive has been described as an experience that induces stress in the individual as well as in the couple. The announcement of infertility has the same reactions as that of bereavement or serious illness. The medical treatment of infertility generates a state of anxiety and anxiety, the influence of this suffering and this anxiety can exert on the results of the treatment. Failed attempts result in narcissistic injuries which can be significant; To this are often added problems of sexuality and difficulties at the level of the couple. This work proposes through
a review of the literature to address all the psychological aspects of infertility and its treatments on individuals.
