ABSTRACT
Up till now there are no studies on the distribution of Iodine- Labeled pesticides in mice or even rat organs, therefore the aim of this study is to trace radioiodinated parathion pesticide in experimental animals in experimental animals. The present work was oriented to synthesis of radioiodinated parathion (PA) for imaging. The radiotracer, parathion was labeled with [125I] using chloramine-T (Ch-T) as an oxidizing agent. Many factors were systematically studied to maintain high radiochemical yield of the [125I]PA reaching values of 98.5%. The radiotracer was completely separated and purified using high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The biological distribution indicated that The radiotracer, [125I]PA can be used as a
tracer to image different target organs specially liver and kidneys, whereas results recorded 25.11 ±0.19 % and 28.6 ±0.77 % after 2 hours.
Keywords: Parathion, 125I – Labeling - biological distribution - Imaging.
