ABSTRACT
The present research work was aimed to evaluate the physicochemical, phytochemical, and pharmacological activity of Canavalia gladiata (Family- Fabaceae) and to identify and evaluate the natural source for healing helminthiasis. The present study also aims to evaluate the screening effects of Canavalia gladiata for its Anthelmintic activity. Methanol extract of Canavalia gladiata showed significant activity when compared to aqueous extracts. The physicochemical constituents like ash values (13%), water extractive values (15%), loss on drying (1.8%), fluorescence analysis and the phytochemical studies such as preliminary phytochemical screening of Canavalia gladiata will be helpful in developing pharmacopoeial standards for the global acceptance. These properties of Canavalia gladiata justify its use as a better choice of natural drug in the treatment of helminthiasis.
