UNDERSTANDING OF DANTOTPATTI IN AYURVEDA WITH REFERENCE TO TEETH DEVELOPMENT AS PER MODERN SCIENCE

ABSTRACT
Danta is considered as an Asthi Prakara and categarized under Ruchakasthi prakara and they are thirty two in number. Sandhi present in Danta is told as Ulookala sandhi and its number is taken as thirty two. The appearance of Danta or dentation in the oral cavity is called as Dantotpatti.[3] According to Āyurveda, in human beings fourth month onwards tooth are inseminated. Birth with teeth, first eruption of upper teeth, eruption of scattered teeth, presence of less teeth, more teeth, Karaala Danta, discolored teeth, cracked teeth are considered as inauspicious in Āyurveda. Tooth development or odontogenesis is the complex process by which teeth form from embryonic cells, grow, and erupt into the mouth. For human teeth to have a healthy oral environment, all parts of the tooth must develop during appropriate stages of fetal development.
