AROCHAKA AND ITS MANAGEMENT BY SINGLE DRUGS

ABSTRACT
Food is the life-sustaining factor and such vital thing is disliked and even an aversion for it is developed in a clinical condition known as ‘Arochaka’. It is one of the common complaints reported in clinical practice. Verbal meaning of the word ‘Arochaka’ or ‘aruchi’ is state of non willingness to eat food. In terms of modern science we can call it anorexia. This is an independent disease and is also found as symptom of many diseases like Rajayakshma, Jwara, Amlapitta, Pandu, Atisara, Grahani etc. Acharya Charaka has described Arochaka as an independent disease and symptoms of many diseases too. This article is an attempt to study causes, pathogenesis, types, symptomss and treatments of Arochaka roga. Here we will also discuss about single
drug remedies for Arochaka described by Acharya bhavaprakash.
