ABSTRACT
The Carbimazole is commonly used orally administered thionamide an antithyroid drug used in the treatment of hyperthyroidism Thereafter, ten batches were formulated and All the formulations were prepared using Wet granulation method, a conventional method of preparation .Various parameters like pre & post compressional parameters were tested and final formula was selected based on disintegration time and in-vitro dissolution profile. Precompression and post compression studies were performed for each formulation. The preformulation study includes the compatability of drugs with the polymers. Precompression test are bulk density, tapped density, cars index and angle of repose and post compression test are weight variation, hardness, thickness, friability, disintrigation, in-vitro dissolution. In-vitro release data was subjected to application of various kinetic models. The results obtained
for all pre-compression and post compression parameters were found within acceptable range of pharmacopoeias. The optimized formulation showed good release profile with maximum drug being released at all time intervals. The present study demonstrated potentials for rapid absorption, improved bioavailability, effective therapy and patient compliance.
Keywords: Carbimazole, precompressional evaluation, post compressional evaluation.
