AYURVEDIC APPROACH IN MANYASTHAMBHA - A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
Today’s era has made a huge impact on everyone’s living. Due to stressful life, sedentary lifestyle, office and computer work, prolong duty hours, manual labour and excess travelling diseases of joints and locomotor system are very commonly seen. Neck pain is ranked 4th highest in terms of disability and it hampers day to day activity of a person. Various treatment modalities like painkillers, physiotherapy and surgery are available but none of them is satisfactory to treat this condition and is often associated with many adverse effects. Ayurveda mentions Manyasthambha in Nanatmaja vatavikara. Ayurveda states management of manyasthambha with Shodhana, Shaman, Bruhana chikitsa. This article is a case study of a 38 year old male presented
with Manyashoola, Manyastambha, Manya pradeshi shotha, Amsasandhi shoola, painful neck movement and Tingling and numbness in upper limb. Treated with shaman and shodhana chikitsa, shalishahti pinda sweda, nasyakarma. Panchakarma therapy along with internal medicines improved the quality of life and proved very effective in this patient.
