ABSTRACT
Varicose vein is a condition in which the veins become dilated, elongated and tortuous. It is mostly seen in people who have prolonged standing jobs like security guard, teachers, drivers, shopkeepers, conductor etc. Varicose ulcers are a severe clinical manifestation of chronic venous insufficiency usually of the legs, which involves superficial & perforating as well as the deep veins. The ulcer may get infected and lead to cellulitis or gangrene if not treated properly. In Ayurveda it can be corelated with Sirakathinya janya Vrana (varicose ulcer). Acharya Sushruta have mentioned Vranakarma & Jalloukavacharan as a effective treatment in it. This article is a case study of a 37 year old male diagnosed as chronic non healing varicose
ulcer. Treated after debridement with sahachara taila dhara sweda, Yashtimadhu ghrita varti Pattabandhan (dressing), jalloukavacharana with aabhyantar aushadhi- Sukshama triphala, Gandhaka rasayan and Khadiradi vati internally. A significant improvement was seen in 3 weeks of treatment.
