ABSTRACT
Eagle's Syndrome caused by elongated styloid process is an uncommon and under diagnosed clinical entity. The aim of this study was to describe our clinical and surgical experience in patients with Eagle’s syndrome and to evaluate their outome. 30 patients with elongated styloid process were treated between June 2017 and june 2019 at Government Medical College, mysore. The elongated styloid process syndrome can be diagnosed by a detailed history, physical examination, and radiological investigations. It may be treated either non-surgically or surgically. Symptomatic patients having a styloid process longer than 3cm underwent surgical excision transorally. Most of these patients experienced complete resolution of symptoms after
surgical treatment. Easiness to perform, non-association of any serious complications and avoidance of an extraoral scar dictates that this approach can be practiced much safely in patients with elongated styloid process. Awareness of this syndrome is important to all health practitioners involved in the diagnosis and treatment of head and neck pain.
