Abstract

WONDER GIFT OF NATURE: SPIRILUNA AS FUTURE FOOD

ABSTRACT

Spirulina is spiral-shaped, microscopic blue-green microalgae belongs to family cyanophyceae. The most important species of which Spirulina maxima, Spirulina Plantensis and Hawaiian spirulina which has approximately double nutritive value compare to other species. its naturally grow in fresh water ponds, lakes and man made reservoirs in warm, sunny environments. Spirulina is most nutritious, superfood, gives long lasting energy, to mankind and also strengthens immune system, it regulates blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol, also act as antiinflamatory, Chemopreventive, Antidiabetics, antiviral, anemia and blood improvement, Cardioprotective, Hepataprotective, Neuroprotective, in cataracts, antidepressants, antioxidant activity helps in life threatenting diseases like cancer, Alzheimers, heart disease and stroke, it also fight many viruses such as cytomegalovirus, herpes, influenza and HIV virus. Spirulina is about 60% complete digestible proteins.13 million children die each year due to malnutrition i.e 36000 per day, (UNICEF) 230 million children below the age of five year suffer from malnutrition Hunger is the gravest single threat to the world. Public health (WHO) Mortality due to malnutrition -58% of total mortality (WHO). Also only 11% land was available under agriculture, %yield of farming product was decreased down now a days due to environmental factors, decreased the quality of soil due to excess chemical used. Population of world was found to be 7.6 billions in December 2017, to fulfill the hunger these people farming land was insufficient the best food to overcome malnutrition and hunger of world is spirulina.
