A REVIEW ON Murraya koenigii (CURRY LEAVES-A HERBAL BOON)

ABSTRACT
The number of plants have been used in traditional system of medicine for several thousand of years. The Indian traditional system of medicine claims to cure and control the various diseases by using of herbal medicines. Murraya koneigii (Curry Leaves/Kadhi Patta/Mitha Nimba/Giri Nimba) is native to India and it is found almost everywhere. It have many disease protecting constituents or ingredients as natural compounds which can be used to develope newer medicines or formulations to cure number of different types of disorders. Curry leaves used traditionally as anti- hair falling, anti-emetic, anti-diarrhoeal, febrifuge and blood purifier. It is also involve\
in treating stomachic. Curry leaves are found to be effective as antioxidant, anti-coagulating effect, antidiabetic, antibacterial, antihypertensive, hair protecting effect, cytotoxic, neuroprotective, memory inhancer, anti-depressant (calcium channel blocker), increases level of inhibitory neurotransmitters (GABA) and also in the treatment of bronchial respiratory difficulties. This review aim towards discussing various types of pytochemical constituents and pharmacological actions of plant Murraya koenigii, which is known as herbal boon for all of us.
