DERMATOLOGICAL PRESENTATION OF COVID19 IN SAMPLE OF IRAQI PATIENTS (SINGLE CENTER STUDY)

ABSTRACT
Background: COVID-19 (coronavirus disease 2019) is an illness that may lead to serious respiratory disease and may be fatal. It is caused by the virus SARS-CoV-2. The first human cases occurred in China in December 2019, and the infection rapidly spread throughout the world. Skin rashes have been uncommonly described in patients with COVID-19. Descriptions include: An erythematous exanthema (including a lacy pattern and a petechial, denguelike rash) Livedo reticularis Cutaneous vasculitis. Objective: To assess frequency of dermatological presentation in patient with COVID19 (PCR positive test) in sample of Iraqi patients diagnosed at Al-Shefaa Medical Crisis Center- Baghdad Teaching Hospital- Medical City Complex, Baghdad-IRAQ. Methodology: A Prospective study
conducting in Al-Shefaa Medical Crisis Center –Medical City Complex, Baghdad, only 26 patients from 176 patients diagnosed as COVID19 patients clinically, radiology and laboratory as PCR positive recruited in Al-Shefaa Medical Crisis Center presented with dermatological symptoms, in period of 2 month. Result: 26 Patients approved COVID19 cases, 24 patients were male sex and 2 patient was female (92.3%, 7.6%) respectively. The Common age presentation between 50-60 years old about 13 patients (50%). The most common cutaneous manifestation Is generalized macular or maculopapular exanthema (morbilliform) 53.8% (14/26) of patients. A vesicular eruption 15.3% (4/26) of patients. Urticaria occurred in 19.2% (5/26) of patients. Conclusions: Skin lesion is uncommon features of COVID19 patients but very important sign must be early diagnosed and treated.
Further research is required to understanding of COVID-19 related cutaneous manifestations.
