SYNTHESIS, CHARACTERIZATION AND ANTI-OXIDANT ACTIVITY OF NEW ISATIN DERIVATIVES

ABSTRACT
A new series of isatin derivatives have been synthesized in good yields. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been confirmed by physical and spectral analyses. Compounds were screened for anti-oxidant activity by standard DPPH method. Among the series the compounds XVIIf (R=5-F), XVIIb (R=5-Cl), XVIIh (R=5-Br), XVIIc (R=7-Cl), and XVIIg (R=7-F) exhibited potent anti-oxidant activity and remaining compounds exhibited mild to moderate anti-oxidant activity. Ascorbic acid was taken as standard drug.
