ABSTRACT
Interleukin-17A (IL-17A), a proinflammatory cytokine mainly produced by T helper 17 cells, exerts protumor or antitumor effects in different cancer entities. However, the exact role of IL-17A in carcinogenesis and progression of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) remains unclear. Besides, IL- 17A enhanced cell migration and invasion in OSCC cell line. With the intricate role IL-17 plays in cancer pathophysiology, substantiation is now growing which ropes the ability of IL-17 to act as a key diagnostic marker, distinguishing between benign and malignant pathology as well as predicting prognosis for Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
Keywords: Interleukin -17, Oral Cancer, Oral Squamous cell carcinoma.
