A REVIEW ON LOVE IN MIST (KALONJI): A GRACE TO BEAUTIFUL SKIN AND HAIRS

ABSTRACT

Our Mother Nature has given, the most loved formation of God, with all that we expected to live on this earth: air to inhale, water to extinguish thirst, grains to appetite, flame to light etc. Various herbal plants are available in abundance naturally; they having different chemical constituents used in cosmetics preparations. Herbs are rich in vitamins, they have anti-aging, revitalizing and rejuvenating agent. Herbs produce anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and pain relieving that can treat dandruff. These herbs provide nutrition to hair and also helpful in darkening of hair. It also provides antioxidant and photo aging effect on the skin. Nigella sativa is a powerful ancient annual flowering plant in the family Ranunculaceae. It is one of the herbs, which is referred by Prophet Mohammed PUBH as an herb of blessing, which can cure every disease except death. Therapeutic potential of N. sativa seed has been very well studied in many researches, but its beneficial use in beautifying is not very well studied. This magic seed oil is intensively studied for its chemistry. It contains many essential active ingredients which are beneficial for skin and hairs. The seed of kalonji has antimicrobial, antioxidant, anti-aging, hair growth promoter, sun protection activity, which make it a novel ingredient for many cosmetic preparations. This review brings the comprehensive compilation of researches on Nigella sativa seed in the field of cosmetics. This review is mainly intended to provide a brief knowledge regarding existing data of cosmoceutical actions of this plant. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, and skin softening benefits.
