LITERATURE REVIEW- EFFECTIVENESS OF YOGA IN MENOPAUSAL SYMPTOMS

ABSTRACT
Menopause is natural phenomenon and one of the life‟s important milestones. Due to increased life expectancy, about 1/3rd of life span will be spent during the period of menopause with long term symptomatic and metabolic complications. Being a common and disturbing problem, it needs effective and safe treatment. Hormonal replacement therapy is most effective treatment; however it has its own limitations. The present need is to explore new options for the management of menopausal symptoms. Yogic lifestyle is a way of living which aims to improve the body, mind, and day to day life of individuals. Most common performed yoga practices are postures (asana), controlled breathing (Pranayama), and meditation (dhyana),
surya-namaskara, bandhas etc. Yoga has been utilized as a therapeutic tool to achieve positive health, and control and cure of the disease.
