ABSTRACT
Object: Dietary supplementation have crucible role in treatment of disease state, where I studied the effectiveness of L-arginine, l-carnitine, and CoQ10 in respiratory disease. Method: Eligible literature taken out from PubMed. Study approaches: Arginine is semi-essential amino acid, and its degradation through nitric-oxide synthase to produces nitric oxide that plays a crucial role in treatment of imbalance of respiratory function. Study approaches for l-arginine: 100 milligrams, 170 milligrams, 500 milligrams and 2.5-milligram doses of L-arginine effective in inflamed airway responsiveness and of
NO production. L-Carnitine is a natural compound that plays a vital role in energy production and fatty acid metabolism with can also improve neuropathic pain, nerve conduction, immune function in diabetes patients, with liver and kidney disease (prevents oxidative stress and regulates nitric oxide). As oral supplementation of 2g/day dose of l-carnitine for 6 weeks is enhancing the respiratory muscle strength and exercise tolerance in COPD patients. Coenzyme Q10 is a fat soluble and also known as Coenzyme Q, CoQ, CoQ10, Ubiquinone, Ubidecarenone, Ubiquinone Q10, or Vitamin Q10. It has wide range of pharmacological therapeutic action included such as lipid antioxidants, cardiovascular diseases, mitochondrial disorders, periodontal diseases, cancer, obesity, diabetes, radiation injury, acquired immune deficiency syndrome, Parkinson's disease, allergy, gastric ulcers, migraine headaches, kidney failure, boosting the immune system, muscular dystrophy, and aging; however its deficiency causes encephalomyopathy, renal failure, cerebellar ataxia, myopathy, and dysfunction of the respiratory chain which decrease the efficiency of cells. Study approaches for CoQ10: 50 mg of oral ubidecarenone daily for four weeks in COPD, 120 mg as antioxidant therapy for 16 weeks to 32 weeks significant effects in bronchial asthmatic condition, and 90 mg/day for 8 weeks has reliable effects on muscular energy metabolism. Conclusion: Dietary supplements (L-arginine, l-carnitine, and CoQ10) have reliable therapeutic effect on asthma, COPD, air inflammation, emphysema, hypoxemia, and pulmonary inflammation. Moreover, It may have wide range of therapeutic profile against cardiovascular diseases, renal disease, cancer, diabetes, immune disorder, allergic disorder, gastrointestinal disorder, reproductive disorder and aging.
