ABSTRACT
Herbal medicine is still a mainstay of about 70-80% of the world‟s population as they are easily available source for healthcare purposes in rural and tribal areas. India being the largest producer of medicinal plants it is correctly known as “Botanical garden of the world” The protective antioxidant action imparted by many plant extracts and plant products make them promising therapeutic drugs for free radical induced pathologies. In this study the antioxidant potential of Citrus maxima peel extract was assessed. The deep violet colour of the initial reaction mixture is changed to light yellow due to the reduction of
DPPH with the antioxidant compounds present in the peels extracts of Citrus maxima fruits. In Antiulcer activity, the peel extract of Citrus maxima shows less less ulcer index in 100 mg/kg and 200mg/kg as compared with the standard. Antibacterial activity shows the Zone of inhibition data for E.coli it was observed that chloroform extract of Citrus maxima was having maximum zone of inhibition followed by Acetone and ethanol extract.
