ABSTRACT
Microspheres are free flowing powders containing proteins or synthetic polymers which are biodegradable in nature and having a particle size less than 200 μm. Microspheres are multiparticulate drug delivery system. They are designed as to obtain controlled drug delivery to overcome some of the problems of conventional therapy. Microsphere improves bioavailability, stability and to target the drug to specific site at a predetermined rate. Microspheres having the various approaches to deliver the drug substance to the target site in a controlled release fashion. Mostly microspheres acts as a carriers for drug delivery. Microspheres not only for prolonged release but also for targeting of anticancer drugs to the tumor. There are various types of microspheres as like Bioadhesive, Magnetic, Floating, Radioactive, Polymeric and
Biodegradable microspheres. They are prepared by various methods like Emulsion solvent evaporation technique, Emulsion cross linking method, Co-acervation method, Spray drying technique, Multiple emulsion method. Microspheres have wide range of applications because of controlled and sustained release
