HERBAL EXCIPIENT USED IN DRUG DELIVERY SYSTEM

ABSTRACT
The use of herbal excipient to deliver the bioactive agent has been hamped by the synthetic material. Advantages of herbal excipient being non-toxic, less expensive & freely available. Performance of excipient partly determines the quality of medicine. Earlier used herbal excipients are Artocarpus heterophyllus, Bauhinia racemosa, Grewia optiva, Aegle, magnifera indica, Cederela. novel drug delivery system are developed to address the challenges of drug development such as bioavailability, permeability & poor solubility .global excipient market are expected to grow rapidely in the pharmaceutical industry. The article gives an over view of herbal excipient which are used in
conventional dosage form as well as novel drug delivery system.
