ENDO-PERIO LESIONS: VERTICAL ROOT FRACTURE
Dr. Sanjay Nandwani*, Dr. Sanjay Miglani and Dr. Anjali Nandwani
ABSTRACT
A vertical root fracture clinically mimics the symptoms of endodontic and periodontal lesions. This fracture of root may involve the entire root like mesial to distal side, may be horizontal or oblique. On the other hand, the vertical fracture may exhibit only one side of the root. Vertical root fracture conventionally involves a previously treated tooth; however its exhibition in a sound tooth is not uncommon. In essence, the treatment modality for the vertical root fracture is extraction of entire tooth or in some cases, the removal of the fractured root thus salvaging the remaining tooth.
