In charak samhita it is said that dharma, artha, preeti, yash can only be obtained after production of putra (offspring). It is the putra (offspring) who prevents the person from “PUM” narak. Person without progeny is like beautiful painting of diya on wall, which can only look beautiful but cannot give light. It is all said about the importance of producing youngones, but all these things can only fulfilled by the production of healthy progeny. Despite of such advancements in medical sciences incidence of vikrit garbha is not uncommon. Ayurveda, the ancient
system of medicine has given due emphasis on the six procreative factors i.e. Matrija, Pitrija, Aatmaj, Satvaj, Rasaj, Satmayaj for healthy progeny. If defect occurred in any of these six procreative factor, it will cause defect in associated parts of the fetus.
