ABSTRACT Parkinsons disease (PD) is a movement disorder that is characterized by selective damage to dopaminergic nigrostriatal neurons that lead to motor deficits including rigidity, tremor, bradykinesia and possibly dementia.The primary pathology of PD is believed to involve the loss of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra, with a resultant decline of dopamine in the striatum.These symptoms are treated with a range of drugs that include drugs acting on brain cholinergic system and drugs acting on brain dopaminergic system.This review also describe some complementary therapies.
