SCREENING OF HEALING EFFECT OF HERBAL CREAM ON DEAD SPACE WOUND

ABSTRACT

Medicinal herbs have a hopeful future in the development of new formulations for the prevention and treatment of various skin related problems. In the series of developing novel formulations, the herbal cream prepared with aqueous extract of the leaves of Chenopodium album, Coccinia indica, Momordica dioica, Praecitrullus fistulosus and Trichosanthes dioica was studied for its effect on wound healing using the dead space wound model in rats. Significant increases in granuloma tissue weight, tensile strength and hydroxyproline content were observed in obtained findings. Results concluded the probable healing effect of formulated herbal cream on dead space wounds.
