ABSTRACT
The oral route is considered as the most promising route of drug delivery. The drugs with short elimination half life are required to be taken frequently. Residronate sodium used for the treatment of Osteoporosis and paget’s disease. This tablet prepared by using carbopol 934 P, Guar gum, Fenugreek Gum. All the ingredients were studied for interactions with drug by FTIR spectroscopy. Physical properties of all ingredients were checked and found to be in the ranges given in ranges of compendia. Solution of Residronate was scanned for its maximum absorption. absorption was found on 262.20 nm in 0.1 N HCL buffer and standard calibration curves in 0.1 N HCL was prepared. All the
batches were prepared by direct compression technique by using 8 mm punch and dies. The formulation F13 containg carbopol 934 p (7.5 mg) Gaur gum (62.5 mg). Fenugreek gum (6mg). showed Flaoting lag time 1 min and To the floating time upto 12 hrs by using Sodium Bicarbonate 25 (mg) and Mucoadhesion duration (>12 hrs) and Optimum drug release (95%) upto 12 hrs thus selescted as optoimized formulation. SEM Photomicrograph shows the formation of swelling and errosion on tablet surface which indicates that the drug was release by swelling and erosion mechanism.
Keywords: Residronate sodium, Mucoadhesive, Guar gum, Fenugreek Gum.
