ANALYTICAL STUDY OF KARANJADI ASHCHYOTANA: AYURVEDIC FORMULATION

ABSTRACT
Ashchyotana kriyakalpa is indicated in acute phase of inflammation where as conjunctival corneal epithelia, permeability is very high hence absorption is more. Acharya Sushruta described Karanjadi Ashchyotana in Uttartantra after Arma Chedana. Karanjadi Ashchyotana is a Ropana drug having action like Tridosha Shamak, krimighn, vranshothhar, vranshodhan, vedanasthapan, dahshamak and Chakshusya That why they are usefull in ocular symptom like pain, redness, watering, inflammation of eye and effective in post surgical ocular management Keeping all these points into view the present study has been undertaken with the aim to modify Karanjadi Ashchyotana into eyedrop form and to develop the physiochemical
profile of final product. The eye drop was prepared by using rosewater as base which is mixed with powdered Ghana satva and then filtered.
