A BRIEF REVIEW ON MULTI - UNIT PELLET SYSTEM

ABSTRACT

The Multi - Unit Pellet System (MUPS) tablets are type of multi particulate system that became essential and recent trends for immediate and modified drug release. They contain coated or uncoated pellets for modified drug release. The present article reviews the advantages of MUPS, drug release mechanism, techniques involved and various applications of multi -unit pellet system. Now-a-days research and development of Pharmaceuticals are for pinning to drug delivery which enhances therapeutic action by reducing side effects. MUPS are the best for controlled release drug delivery. For solid dosage form like tablets and capsules oral route is the main way for administration. Out of tablets and capsules, tablets are having more advantages than capsules. One of tamper proof dosage form is tablet. Out of tablets and MUPS, MUPS are more advantageous because of short gastric resistance time.
