A CASE STUDY: MANAGEMENT OF FISTULA- IN- ANO (HEPATITIS – “C” POSITIVE PATIENT) BY NIMBA KSHARA-SUTRA

ABSTRACT

The present study deals with management of Fistula-in-ano, a unique case which was Hepatitis C positive. In this case the standard technique of ligation by Nimba Kshara-Sutra was adopted. It is significantly effective in managing pain, irritation, discharge and also healing after ligation. Nimba Kshara Sutra was prepared on 20 no. surgical linen thread by repeated 21 coatings, in which 11 coatings were of Nimba Putapaka Swaras only, 7 coatings of Nimba Putapaka Swaras with Nimba Kshara, and 3 coatings of Haridra churna with Nimba Putapaka Swaras. Nimba has very good qualities, viz. Kandughna, Vranashodhan and Vranropak, which proved very effective in cutting and healing the Fistula Track with minimal irritation and pain.
