COST-EFFECTIVE ANALYSIS OF ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE DRUGS IN HYPERTENSIVE PATIENTS IN A TERTIARY CARE TEACHING HOSPITAL IN JAIPUR

ABSTRACT
Introduction: Hypertension is the term used for high or increased blood pressure. It is a chronic condition or medical status in which the pressure of blood is raised. It is an important fact because hypertension or high blood pressure is a tractable condition and even a 2 mm Hg population wide decrease in blood pressure may prevent 151,000 and 153,000 number of deaths per year worldwide due to stroke and coro-nary heart disease (CHD) respectively. cine wards of tertiary care teaching hospital. The duration of this study is six months. Total number of 128 Hypertension diagnosed Patient’s data were collected under this study who were admitted to the General Medicine wards of tertiary care teaching hospital. Collected da-ta were analysed by using Microsoft Excel 2016. Results: 76.6% of patients had received monotherapy. Diuretics and Beta blockers are much more economical than Angiotensin re-ceptor blockers, Calcium channel blockers and Angiotensin receptor blocker were the costli-est drugs among all antihypertensive drugs among all other antihypertensives. Conclusion: Majority of patients were treated with Angiotensin receptor blocker. Among combination drug therapy, Telmisartan + Amlodipine combination was highly prescribed. Considering the Pharmacoeconomics, Diuretics are more economical than Calcium channel blocker.
