ABSTRACT

A Novel, specific, accurate, and precise Zero order derivative spectroscopy method was developed and validated for the estimation of Ganciclovir in Pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The stock solution was prepared by weighing 100 mg of standard Ganciclovir in 100 ml volumetric flask with Distilled water. The stock solution was made to produce 1000 μg/ml with Distilled water. Further dilutions were prepared as per procedure. The drug solution showed the maximum absorbance at 252 nm. The linearity was found in the concentration range of 2-14 μg/ml. The correlation coefficient was found to be 0.9998. The regression equation was found to be Y=0.052x+0.0024. The method was validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, limit of detection, limit of quantitation and ruggedness. The limit of detection and limit of quantitation for estimation of Ganciclovir was found to be 0.0259μg/ml and 0.259μg/ml respectively. Recovery of Ganciclovir was found to be in the range of 99.7-101.53 %. Proposed method was successfully applied for the quantitative determination of Ganciclovir in Pure and pharmaceutical dosage forms.

Keywords: Ganciclovir, Zero order UV- Spectroscopy, Distilled water, Accuracy.
