ABSTRACT
Ethosuximide is an anticonvulsnt drug used in the treatment of epilepsy and bipolar disorder A test, sensitive, precise and reproducible uv /visible spectrophotometric method was developed for the determination of Ethosuximide in bulk and pharmaceutical dosage forms. The use of solvent was distilled water, chloroform and wavelength at 230nm corresponding to the peak absorbance of the product. Product obeyed the law of Beer’s in the of 10-50 μg/ml concentration range. The linear regression formula obtained was y=0.0091x+0.0089 with the correlation coefficients of 0.9997.The model was validated according to ICH guidelines for several parameters like Linearity, consistency, Accuracy, precision and
Robustness as per the. The percentage recovery value indicates that the method is reproducible and that the excepients is not interfered with. The result conclude that the proposed spectrophotometric method for the estimation of Ethosuximide can be used for routine analysis of Ethosuximide in bulk as well as in pharmaceutical dosage form.
