A CRITICAL ANALYTICAL REVIEW ON VATAJA ABHISHYANDA LAKSHANAS W.R.T. ALLERGIC CONJUNCTIVITIS (SEASONAL/ PERENNIAL)

ABSTRACT
Vataja abhishyanda is one amoung the sarvagata netraroga causing great threat to the vision with mild to gross visual loss. It is characterised by Toda (Pricking pain), Sangharsha (foreign body sensation), Achchashruta (watery discharge), Alpa Shopha (mild chemosis), Vishushka Bhava (feeling of dryness), Parushya (dryness). Allergic Conjunctivitis is the inflammation of the conjunctiva, which is characterised by conjunctival hyperaemia, lacrimation, photophobia, foreign body sensation, itching, irritation, stinging and burning sensation in eye. Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis and perennial allergic conjunctivitis are the most common forms of ocular allergies. Sushrutha and Vagbhatoktha lakshanas of vataja abhishyandha can be correlated with the allergic conjunctivitis in the light of contemporary knowledge. This helps in proper understanding and diagnosing various
conditions of the disease in detail.
