PHARMACOGNOSTICAL STUDY OF CLASSICAL PANCHAVALKAL ALONG WITH MODULATED PANCHAVALKAL

ABSTRACT
Panchavalkal is a stem bark of five drugs i.e. Vata (Ficus bengalensis Linn), Udumbara (Ficus Glomereta Linn), Ashwatha (Ficus religosa Linn), Parish (Thespesia populnea Soland) and Plaksha (Ficus infectiforia Roxb). Members of moraceae and Malvaceae family are used in many medicinanal preparations. In Modulated panchavalkal contain Shirish (Albizzia Leback Benth) and Vetas (Salix caprea Linn.) by Bhavprakash nighantu and Kaydev nighantu. These combinations are used different pathological conditions especially in gynecological disorders and wound healing. Aim- To study the Pharmacognosy of
modulated Panchavalkal as compare to classical panchavalkal. Material and methods- Sample of modulated panchavalkal and regular panchavalkal, microscope. Conclusion- Powder microscopic study shows presence of Calcium oxalate in classical panchavalakal but absent in shirish.
