ABSTRACT
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the anti – glaucomatous activity of Ethanolic extract of Erythrina variegate Lam. Leaves by using carbomer induced glaucoma in rabbits. Methods: Extraction was done by Continuous Hot Percolation method, analyzed by FTIR and HPTLC method and estimated anti - cholinesterase activity (in vitro) and evaluated anti- glaucomatous activity using Rabbit model. Result: 2% ethanolic extract of Erythrina variegate (EEEV) eye drops possess anti – glaucomatous activity. Conclusion: The study affirmed that the ethanolic extract of Erythrina variegate (2%) eye drops produced desirable changes in Intra ocular Pressure (IOP).
Keywords: Anti- glaucomatous activity, Erythrina variegate, EEEV, Carbomer, IOP.
