EVALUATION OF ANTIMICROBIAL ACTION OF RAJARAJESHWARI RASA

ABSTRACT
Rajarajeshwari rasa (RRR) is a herbo-mineral formulation mentioned in Rasendra Sara Sangraha, Kustha Adhikara chapter.[1] It is indicated in Sarva Kustha. Kusta roga which is mentioned in our classical texts is a common disease among the population which is caused due to micro-organisms[2], even they are not life threatening they can have large impact on the lives of those living with them. Materials & Methods: RRR contains Kajjali. Tamra Bhasma, Shudha Haratala, Triphala Churna, Bakuchi Churna, Khadira Churna, Guduchi Sattwa and Bhringaraja Swarasa for Bhavana. Almost all the ingredients of RRR have Kushtagna properties. So RRR was prepared according to
Rasendra Sara Sangraha textbook and the prepared sample was subjected for its Anti-microbial action against Staphylococcus aureus by Agar well diffusion and Agar disc diffusion method. Results: RRR had Anti-microbial action against gram positive bacteria Staphylococcus aureus which cause skin disease in human being. By the results obtained through Anti-microbial study of prepared drug it is proved that the RRR can therapeutically more effective.
