ISOLATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF BACTERIA FROM MOBILE PHONES IN MAINPURI DISTRICT IN UTTAR PRADESH, INDIA

ABSTRACT
Now a days, mobile phones have proved to be the most important hand
held device for professional as well as personal work. It is used daily
everywhere by households, workers, healthcare staffs, in School,
College etc. as communication medium. We investigated bacterial
contamination on cell phones in different areas of Mainpuri District,
Uttar Pradesh, India. In this study we found Staphylococcus spp.,
Bacillus spp., E.coli, Pseudomonas spp., Klebsiella spp and Proteus
spp. in the percentage of 60%, 30%, 25%, 45%, 15% and 13%
respectively. The study showed that 90% mobile phones under
consideration were infected by several pathogenic microbes, most of
these bacterial species are harmful and cause infection to humans. Communicable diseases
like diarrhoea, respiratory diseases and urinary tract infection most commonly caused by E.
coli, Klebsiella spp. and Staphylococcus spp.
