DAMAGE CONTROL ORTHOPAEDIC IN BORDERLINE POLYTRAUMA PATIENTS (OVERVIEW PART 1)

ABSTRACT
This article provides an overview of literary evidence from 219 international authors and teams with direct relevance to polytrauma diagnosis and care. The aim is to optimize orthopedic treatment of borderline patients through orthopedic damage control. The article makes a comparative analysis of global experience vs. the clinical behavior of Level 1 trauma centers in this country. Standardized protocols have been developed for treatment of polytrauma cases while a tendency of increase of their incidence has been noted. In economically advanced countries, traumas are the third most common cause of fatalities in men aged up to 45 and women up to the age of 35, with 70% of cases being severe combined injuries.
