OVERVIEW OF NANOSUSPENSION TECHNOLOGY

ABSTRACT

Very low bioavailability is one of the major problems associated with poorly soluble drugs. Large proportions of newly discovered medicines are water-insoluble and thus poorly bioavailable. The best alternative way to slove these problems is formulation as nanosuspension. Nanosuspension consists of a solid, poorly water-soluble substance without dispersion-suspended matrix content. Nanosuspension preparation is simple and applicable to all water-insoluble products. A nanosuspension not only solves the problems of low solubility and bioavailability, but also affects the drug's pharmacokinetics and thus improves drug safety and effectiveness. Nanosuspensions are prepared by various methods like emulsion‐solvent evaporation, wet mill, melt emulsification method and high pressure homogenizer.
