“PRAKRUTIK AAHARA”- A NATUROPATHY DIET AND ITS IMPORTANCE

ABSTRACT
Naturopathy is a health science, which is based on healing power of nature,either body itself or through use of prarutik element. Nature is made up of five basic element (panchmahabhuta) ie.space (Akash) air(Vayu) fire(Agni) water(Jala) earth(Prathivi). In naturopathy use of panchamahabht concept in its therapy. Fasting is Akasha mahabhut chikitsa, hydrotherapy is jala mahabhut chikitsa, heliotherapy (using sunrays) is Agni mahabhut chikitsa, Diet therapy and Mud therapy is Prathivi mahabhut chikitsa, In Naturopathy food considers as medicine as long as Acharya kashyap denote “Aahar is mahabhaisja”. According to Naturopathy, manifestation of disease is accumulation of morbid matter (toxins) in the body due to ingestion of faulty diet. And natural food helps to eliminate the toxins and enhance the vital energy.
In naturopathy food classify as Acidic-Alkaline, positive- negative, eliminative -soothing- constructive and vegetarian-nonvegetarian.
