CEFIXIME INDUCED TOXIC EPIDERMAL NECROLYSIS

ABSTRACT
Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis syndrome (TEN) is a devastating illness due to an immune mediated hypersensitivity reaction which mainly involves skin and mucous membrane. TEN is generally induced by the drugs. Here we present a 16 year old female patient presented a severe cutaneous reaction which was diagnosed as TEN that occurred due to administration of Cefixime. A careful literature search revealed that only a few case reports of Cefixime has been reported. This case report, it is believed to propagate an awareness of Cefixime induced TEN is possible. We hope that this case report alerts the health care professionals regarding the safe use of drug.
