SHORT REVIEW OF FETAL ALCOHOL SYNDROME

ABSTRACT
FAS is the most common and leading preventable cause of mental retardation. Prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE), induces deleterious effect on physical, neurological, and behavioral development of the child. Various features associated with FAS are Short eye slits (short palprebral fissures), Droopy eyelids (epicanthal folds), Widely spaced eyes, Crossed eyes etcalong with hearing and neurological defects. This article highlight the various facts related with the FAS like risk factor, various features of syndrome along with preventive measures.
