Y. B. Raut* and A. S. Dubey
ABSTRACT
The objective of work was to prepare and characterize gabapentin matrix tablet using sodium alginate LF5/60, LF10/60 and LF240 by direct compression method. From all the formulations, optimized formulation was combined with Cellulose acetate phthalate & Cellulose acetate butyrate for effect on release. Total 15 formulations were prepared and optimized formulation were evaluated by X-ray diffractometry (XRD), Differential scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and Scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results obtained showed that the formulations of Gabapentin prepared with combination sodium alginates and CAP has controlled release over 24 hrs.
Keywords: Gabapentin, matrix tablet, sodium alginate, Cellulose acetate phthalate.
