MANAGEMENT OF BRONCHIECTASIS WITH COR PULMONALE THROUGH SHAMANA AND RASAYANA – A CASE STUDY

ABSTRACT
refers to an irreversible airway dilatation that involves the lung either a focal or diffuse manner.[1] It may arise from infectious or non-infectious causes with presenting symptoms like persistent productive cough, dyspnoea, haemoptysis.Generally, the incidence of bron chiectasis increases with age and it is more common among women then men.Cor pulmonale refers to dilatation and hypertrophy of right ventricle in response to disease of pulmonary vasculature /lung parenchyma.[2] A 40 year old male patient approached to the hospital with complaints of chronic cough with sputum expectoration, progressive dyspnoea on exertion, on and off haemoptysis and pedal oedema since 10 years. Patient was examined and diagnosed as Kshyaja Kasa with Kaphaja Shotha and was treated with the Shamanoushadi along with Rasayana Chikitsa and it has given a remarkable improvement.
