ABSTRACT
A simple, accurate, and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed and validated for determination of Secnidazole in bulk and tablet dosage forms. The developed method was based on the measurement of difference in absorbance of the drug in acidic (0.1M HCl) and basic (0.1M KOH) medium at 278nm and 313nm, respectively. Constructed calibration curve showed linear relationship (R2=0.999) in the range of 5-30μg/mL. The limits of detection and quantification were 1.11μg/ml and 3.36μg/ml, respectively. Precision of the method was satisfactory reflected by the low RSD% values (˂ 2%). The percentage recoveries at three different levels were found 101.2, 99.6 and101.3%; n=3.
