KNOWLEDGE ATTITUDE AND PRACTICE OF PREGNANT WOMEN ABOUT FOLIC ACID IN A TERITARY CARE TEACHING HOSPITAL AT NORTH KARNATAKA

ABSTRACT
Objectives: To find the Knowledge Attitude and Practice regarding Folic Acid among Women of Child Bearing Age (WPCBA). Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted for a period of three months from March 2019 to May 2019 in Navodaya Medical College Hospital & Research Centre (NMCH&RC) Raichur. About 100 females of age group 20-33 years were included by convenient sampling technique. After taking informed verbal consent, a closed ended interview administered questionnaire was filled. Data was entered and analyzed. Results: Mean age group was 26 years and the average Knowledge percentage of the patients was 59.75% with 66% of Attitude and 59.66% of Practice. Conclusion: Knowledge regarding folic acid deficiency among the patients was low along with the poor attitude. Practice was also not satisfactory. It is observed that education plays an important role in preventing micronutrient deficiency.
