ABSTRACT
The aim of the present work was to develop and evaluate the sustained release matrix tablets of Minocycline HCL. The tablet was formulated using Xanthan gum, Karaya gum and HPMC K100M by wet granulation Method. Drug Excipient Compatibility studies revealed that there was no considerable change. FT-IR studies resulted that all peaks corresponding to different functional groups of pure drug were present in the drug-exicipient mixture no interaction between the drug and excipients. The blend of all the formulations showed good flow properties such as angle of repose, bulk density, tapped density. The prepared tablets were shown good post compression parameters and
they passed all the quality control evaluation parameters as per I.P limits. In vitro drug release study was carried out simulated gastric fluid (0.1 N HCL) for the first 2hrs and in phosphate buffer (pH6.8) for the remaining hrs USP apparatus II paddle method. The F4 formulation was showed good drug release that 99.75% in 12hrs.
